simply ham sandwich

Aussies are crazy about ham!

We have it on sandwiches, add it to pizzas and serve it hot and glazed at Christmas!

I only use ham that comes from local, free range organic pigs, just the same as I only use good quality fresh bread for my sandwiches.

Good ingredients speak for themselves. When it comes to a simple ham sandwich, you really don’t need much else.

ham, tomato and pesto sandwich


2 slices white or wholemeal bread
1t SSP’s basil pesto
60g ham, shaved
tomato, sliced
red onion, to garnish
sea salt and black pepper

Sandwich Assembly

Butter each slice of bread to the corners and edges.
Spread one side with SSP’s basil pesto.
Onto the pesto, layer the shaved ham evenly.
Top with tomato slices and season with salt and pepper.
Garnish with Spanish onion and pop on the top slice of bread.

Eat it

With a nice cold glass of refreshing homemade lemonade by the pool!

    Another mouth watering post thanks L. I also try to only buy free range – seems to be getting harder to find these days. Where do you get yours from? x

    1. That’s right Cassie, I’ve noticed the Northbridge Woolworths hasn’t sold it for ages. The Castlecrag butcher sells it sometimes, as does the Castlecrag iga deli.
      I sometimes find it frustrating that big supermarkets won’t stock things many customers want to see?
